Face Lift Q&A

What is a face-lift?

A face-lift is a cosmetic surgery in which your surgeon tightens facial tissues to make you look younger. The Advanced Specialty Associates team customizes each treatment to ensure superior cosmetic results. They have many years of experience and offer natural-looking results.

What are the benefits of a face-lift?

The main benefits of undergoing a face-lift at Advanced Specialty Associates include:

  • Less skin sagging
  • Tighter, lifted skin
  • Defined jawline
  • Fewer skin folds
  • Reduced lines and wrinkles
  • Younger-looking appearance
  • Improved self-confidence

Advanced Specialty Associates also offers neck lifts to reduce excess or sagging skin on your neck. Your surgeon may combine a face-lift with a neck lift to give you the best outcome.

They use the latest advances in procedures and technology to ensure outstanding anti-aging results.

Is a face-lift right for me?

Your Advanced Specialty Associates specialist lets you know if you’re a candidate for a face-lift after reviewing your medical history, completing a physical exam, and examining your face and neck.

Before the procedure, you might have to stop taking certain medicines, wash your hair and face with a special soap, avoid food and drinks on the morning of surgery, and arrange for a family member or friend to drive you home after the procedure.

What happens during a face-lift?

You first receive numbing medicine with a sedative to relax you or general anesthesia to make you fall asleep.

Your surgeon makes an incision, pulls away a skin flap from your face, removes excess skin, alters and tightens the remaining tissues, and closes the incisions. Your surgeon might place drains behind your ears to remove any excess fluid. They may also complete a neck lift if you’re a candidate for more than one cosmetic procedure.

They strategically place incisions and scars in areas that aren’t noticeable. A face-lift might take about three to six hours or longer if completed in addition to other cosmetic surgeries.

What should I expect after the procedure?

After a face-lift, you can expect mild to moderate discomfort, incision drainage, bruising, swelling, and numbness — but these symptoms disappear over time as treated tissues heal.

Take medications as instructed, rest with your head elevated, avoid smoking, and apply cool packs to your face to reduce swelling. Avoid vigorous activity until given the OK and attend follow-up appointments at Advanced Specialty Associates to ensure proper healing.
